Infant Toddler Network

Building connections and professional support for Michigan’s infant toddler workforce.

The Infant Toddler Network (ITN) connects professionals who care for and support infants, toddlers, and their families across Michigan. Infant Toddler Specialists (ITSs) offer community-based learning and tailored professional development, and are housed at each of the state’s 10 Great Start to Quality Resource Centers. Through these connections, the ITN strengthens the people who shape the earliest years of a child’s life.

In addition to having expertise in infant toddler development and care, and providing trainings in their communities, Infant Toddler Specialists also lead Infant Toddler Learning Communities (ITLCs). These shared, collaborative spaces allow members to grow together over time, strengthening reflective practice, boosting professional confidence, and building resiliency in the important work of caring for Michigan’s youngest children. Over the course of each ITLC cohort, members meet monthly (virtually, in person, or at agreed-upon community locations) to explore topics of shared interest. Between meetings, members receive individualized monthly touchpoints from their regional ITS, which may include reflective conversations, classroom observations, goal setting, or technical assistance tailored to their needs.

The Infant Toddler Network is committed to building a skilled, supported, and connected workforce for Michigan’s youngest children.

Infant Toddler Learning Communities (ITLCs) bring early childhood professionals together to learn, reflect, and grow in a supportive space. Led by Infant Toddler Specialists, these communities provide ongoing connection, shared resources, and responsive support—all grounded in real-life practice.

  • Apply new learning directly to their daily work with infants, toddlers, and families
  • Collaborate with peers to share insights and problem-solve challenges
  • Engage in reflective practice that strengthens confidence and resiliency
  • Build long-term professional relationships that extend beyond the cohort
