Infant Toddler Network

Infant Toddler Network

Building connections and professional support for Michigan’s infant toddler workforce.

The Infant Toddler Network (ITN) connects professionals who care for and support infants, toddlers, and their families across Michigan. Infant Toddler Specialists (ITSs), based at each of the state’s 10 Great Start to Quality Resource Centers, offer community-based learning and tailored professional development. Through these connections, the ITN strengthens the people who shape the earliest years of a child’s life.

In addition to having expertise in infant toddler development and care, and providing trainings in their communities, Infant Toddler Specialists also lead Infant Toddler Learning Communities (ITLCs). These shared, collaborative spaces allow members to grow together over time, strengthening reflective practice, boosting professional confidence, and building resiliency in the important work of caring for Michigan’s youngest children. Over the course of each ITLC cohort, members meet monthly (virtually, in person, or at agreed-upon community locations) to explore topics of shared interest. Between meetings, members receive individualized monthly touchpoints from their regional ITS, which may include reflective conversations, classroom observations, goal setting, or technical assistance tailored to their needs.

Part of the Infant Toddler Network’s commitment to building a skilled, supported, and connected workforce for Michigan’s youngest children.

ITLCs bring together early childhood professionals to learn, reflect, and grow together in a supportive, consistent space. Led by ITSs, these groups offer ongoing connection, resources, and responsive support – all rooted in real-life practice. Members might explore topics such as creating responsive caregiving routines, supporting children through transitions, or partnering with families in culturally responsive ways.

  • Engage in shared learning with other professionals who understand your work
  • Explore strategies to support infants, toddlers, and families in meaningful ways
  • Build relationships with peers in your region that last beyond the cohort
  • Strengthen your reflective practice to boost your confidence and resiliency
